Hanging out sitting in the window

It was a beautiful weekend with tempatures in the upper 70's. That's crazy weather for Michigan. It's usually in the low 50's this time of the year.

Matthew had fun playing outside yesterday and today. This afternoon once we came inside and put on his pajamas I noticed he had climbed into our front window and was just sitting there looking outside. It was so cute I had to take some pictures.

New outside toy I've been waiting for

Today we had record tempatures. It was 77 degrees. The normal tempature is 46.

When I got home from work Matthew and I went outside. We were out there for over 3 hours putting together a new toy. He was a great helper and wanted to hand me every tool that I needed.

I've been dying to put this together since we purchased it in June of 2009, which was 6 months before Matthew was even born. It's been stored in my storage shed in the back yard since.

Today was the magical day that I put it together and got to see our little boy climb and have fun on it. As I was putting it together Matthew continued to climb on each new part - I guess he was doing a quality control check. He was having the time of his life and I have to admit it brought a smile to my face many times.

He's in bed fast asleep right now. I'm sure I'll sleep great too tonight. I can hardly wait till tomorrow to bring him home and go out and play again.

Now this is what life is about!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve never known love the way I love my son

I never knew that love could pierce my heart so deep. I feel it go from the top of my head and push to the very tips of my toes. When I see his picture or him sleeping in his crib it just takes my breath away. To see the way his little eyes almost close when he smiles and the look on his face is absolutely priceless.

How did this little boy just captivate my life? How can it be that life before him seemed to not exist?

To roll on the floor with him and play tickle games so he giggles, or hide and seek as he runs to find daddy. These are the things life is made for.

I race to the babysitter’s house each day after work, weaving in and out of traffic and rushing to beat stop lights so I can get to my boy. The hours away from him seem like forever, but once he’s in my arms the time melts away.

I can’t believe how this little boy has found the love in my heart that I didn’t even know existed. Is it the twinkle in his eye when he looks at me with a smile or the feel of his arms around my neck when he hugs me?

His every step, his every smile, his every breath just makes blows me away.

How is it that I was so fortunate, so lucky, so blessed to be allowed to be his dad? There’s no way that it was because of something that I did. I don’t take it lightly and I will cherish it deeply each day of my life.

He’s now old enough to walk and loves to do it by himself, yet daddy is always there with an outstretched finger for him to hold on to. Is that finger there to let him know that I’m near, or is it for me to feel his little hand clinched on?

It seems like time is racing by just like everyone said that it would. I was certain that I would be able to find a way to make it slow down but no matter how hard I try it just keeps going on.

I cherish each moment and the unbelievable gift God gave me. The love of a father to his son is much deeper than words can express. Even though I will tell him I love him every chance that I get, it's my actions that will show him how precious he is.

I absolutely love being a dad!

Matthew is putting words together

In the past week Matthew has started putting words together and saying full words -

Instead of "Vac" he now says "Vacuum"
Instead of "Juice" he now says "Apple Juice" - Sometimes he says "Apple Juice Now" if he wants it right now.
Tonight he said "Drink Apple Juice"

Anything that's a round ball he calls "Soccer ball"

He knows "yellow" and "orange", but sometimes calls othe colors "yellow". We will continue to work on it so that he gets them all right.

He also knows all the little kids names at daycare and points to them and tells daddy their name.

His speech is getting much more clear too, yet he still has his sweet little baby voice.

Matthew's first circus

Matthew was born 26 months ago today. Today we went to the circus!

This was Matthew's very first circus. We had been talking to him about it for the last few days and he was really excited.

It was such a great feeling taking our son to the Shrine circus. My grandfather was a Shriner when I was a very little boy. Each year when I was young he would take me to the Circus. So today being able to take Matthew made me very happy.

The circus was fun. They had lions and tigers, bears, elephants, trapeze artists, tight rope walkers, many clowns, pony's, horses and so many other things to watch. It lasted about 2 1/2 hours!

One of the acts were three men and one woman doing tricks while riding very pretty horses. At the end of their segment the announcer said "From Kazakhstan are the ....." Michelle and I looked at each other and I said "What did he say???". Intermission followed and we went down to where all the activities for kids were and saw the lady that rode the horses. We asked her where they were from. She said that she was from Kyrgyzstan and the men were from Kazakhstan. She looked at Matthew and said that he looked Kazakh. She held him and we took a picture.

Matthew seemed to really enjoy the show, the kids and everything else. It was so much fun watching the excitement on his face!
