Kids workshops at Home Depot & Lowes
Looking for something fun to do with your son or daughter? Well Lowe’s and Home Depot have the market on fun. For FREE these two stores offer workshops for kids.
Home Depot does theirs on the first Saturday of the month from 9AM to noon. At Home Depot you just show up during the time of the workshop – but show up early because I hear that they get busy quick. Matthew and I always show up at about 8:45 and they let us build right away. I see on HD’s website that they now offer pre-registration. We just registered for the next 4 workshops! http://workshops.homedepot.com and then click on the “Kids workshops” tab.
Lowes is on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 10AM to 11AM. At Lowe’s you can show up but might be turned away if too many people already pre-registered. You can register weeks in advance at lowesbuildandgrow.com that’s what we always do. Also since Lowe’s is only one hour long you will want to arrive about 20 minutes early as the line gets long and space to build your project runs out fast.
The nice thing is with both stores is that if you don’t have the time to construct your project there they will let you bring it home to do it. Each store also gives the child an apron and a pin or iron-on patch to show what projects they have completed. It’s a lot of fun and really doesn’t take long. It’s a great time to spend with your child building a toy they can play with at home later. Matthew and I have been doing this for the past 9 months and haven’t missed one workshop!
Here are pictures of some of the items Matthew and I have made. We still have 7 projects in the bags that we need to do sometime!

38 Months old in pull-ups
It's March 3, 2013. It was 38 months ago that little Matthew was born.
The months are speeding by and our little boy is growing up. He has been doing pretty good staying dry in diapers during the day, so today we decided it would be a good time to start using pull-ups. Matthew was so excited to wear his "Cars" pull-ups. He even let me take a couple pictures.
Yesterday we went to Home Depot's monthly workshop for kids and together we built this little race car that Matthew loves.
