Matthew put on his socks by himself for the first time
Okay, so I'm keeping track of "firsts" for Matthew. For what seems like weeks Matthew has been trying to put on his socks by himself but always has needed help.
Well today that all changed. Matthew pulled the socks off his feet this afternoon and the put them back on all alone! Hurray!!!

First time at the Grand Haven boardwalk
Yesterday we had a great time at the boardwalk in Grand Haven. This was our first visit there in over 5 years, and our first with Matthew.
Since it is Memorial Day weekend there were a lot of people and a lot of very large boats. We walked about 4 miles total from one end to the other and back. Along the way back to the car we all had ice cream. It was a lot of fun!

We upgraded our pool
We upgraded our pool this weekend to one that all three of us could fit in at the same time.

Our first trip to the zoo
Today we went to the zoo for the very first time.
It was so much fun going as a parent of a little child. Watching Matthew look at the animals was priceless. From his point of view all the animals were either a "dog" or a "duck", but that's ok because he had a great time.
We were so surprised to see that the zoo also has a full size Yurt!!! Unfortunately we couldn't go inside today, but when we were in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan we actually got to see the inside of a real one at a museum.
It was a great start to the Memorial Day weekend.

The swimming pool is open
This past Saturday it was in the upper 80's outside so we decided to open our swimming pool for the season. It's a swimming pool for one - one very important little boy.

28 Months old today
Since we first met Matthew I have taken a picture of him on the 3rd of each month to chronicle how he has grown up. Today is May 3rd and Matthew is 28 months old. He is the love of our lives!
Yesterday we had fun playing outside in the sandbox for the very first time. Matthew was a pro at shoveling the sand into the fish.
